Marinara Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ Tbsp. olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • ½ green bell pepper, chopped
  • ½ red bell pepper, chopped
  • 3 medium mushrooms, capped and sliced
  • 28 oz. can tomatoes, coarsely chopped
  • 12 oz. can tomato paste
  • 1 ½ Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 ½ tsp. basil
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • 1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning

Directions

  • In a medium pan over medium heat, cook vegetables (onion, garlic, etc.) until tender (about five minutes).
  • Stir in tomatoes and their liquid, tomato paste, sugar, spices, and salt.
  • Reduce to low heat and simmer, covered, for about 20 minutes or until thickened.
