George's Favorite Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Yield: Five dozen 2 ½ inch cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup margarine, softened
- 1 ¼ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 ¾ cup flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- ½ tsp. salt (optional)
- 2 ½ cup rolled oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 °F.
- Beat together margarine and sugars until creamy.
- Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Add this into the margarine mixture and mix well.
- Stir in oats; mix well.
- Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cook up to 13 minutes for a very crisp cookie.
- Cool on a cookie sheet and remove to a wire rack.
Notes
- You can add 1 tsp. cinnamon and ¼ tsp. nutmeg to the flour mixture.
- You can add 1 cup raisins when you add the oats.
