Yield: Five dozen 2 ½ inch cookies

Rating: 3/5 - basic

Ingredients

  • 1 cup margarine, softened
  • 1 ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 ¾ cup flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt (optional)
  • 2 ½ cup rolled oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F.
  2. Beat together margarine and sugars until creamy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Add this into the margarine mixture and mix well.
  5. Stir in oats; mix well.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cook up to 13 minutes for a very crisp cookie.
  8. Cool on a cookie sheet and remove to a wire rack.

Notes

  • You can add 1 tsp. cinnamon and ¼ tsp. nutmeg to the flour mixture.
  • You can add 1 cup raisins when you add the oats.
