Applesauce Cake

Ingredients
- ½ c. Crisco
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 c. flour
- ½ t. nutmeg
- ½ t. cinnamon
- ½ t. allspice
- ½ t. cloves
- 2 t. cocoa
- 1 t. baking soda
- 1 t. salt
- 2 c. applesauce
- ¾ c. raisins
- ¾ c. nuts
- ¾ c. dates, chopped
Directions
- In the main bowl, blend Crisco and sugar. Beat the eggs and add.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, cocoa, soda, and salt.
- Add sifted mixture, alternately with applesauce, to the main bowl.
- Add the raisins, nuts, and dates.
- Pour into a well-greased and floured tube pan.
- Bake for 350 degrees F for 1 ½ hours.
Notes
- For a more flavorful cake (or if the spices are old), use rounded measurements of spices.
